A few weekends ago, Google changed its alogrhythm, in an attempt to make the sites that come up in the top positions more relevant. It's called "progress."
Some folks loved it, because it propelled their sites to top positions. And many folks hated it, because they had previously enjoyed top positioning, and found themselves entirely removed from Google's listings entirely, or so low as to become almost irrelevant.
These folks are complaining bitterly, and have managed to get themselves some good press on "how Google ruined their holiday businesses".
Googly Eyes. It's more than a little silly to blame a search engine for ruining your business: certainly one must diversify their marketing, advertising, and promotional plans. Putting all your eggs in the Google basket simply isn't good business.
Google? Scroogle. Nonetheless, it may be interesting to see how YOUR site faired in what has become known as "The Google Dance". To do so, visit Scroogle.org and enter your a keyword phrase of your choice. Here, you can see where you used to rank at Google, and where you rank now.
You can why some folks (maybe your competitors? maybe you?) are so upset, or why they are so elated. Stuff certainly changed drastically. . .and overnight!
