  Are PowerPoint Templates Becoming Extinct?

Lately, some of the most stunning PowerPoint presentations I've seen simply combine great photographs with a powerful headline.

No templates necessary. In fact, PowerPoint templates might be going fashionably extinct. However, I can still stand behind PowerPoint backgrounds! By using multiple backgrounds within one presentation, you don't have to limit your story to the confines of a single, hackneyed, overused PowerPoint template.

Go background happy. Effectively using multiple backgrounds within one PowerPoint show can make your presentation visually exciting. If you are looking for beautiful photos to help tell your story, you can find free-to-reasonable photos at these four pop sites:
Now, how about those PowerPoint Templates?
Are they becoming extinct, or what? Talk to me...

I agree with your view on backgrounds, but I'm afraid it really does seem like power point templates are becoming extinct.

The source of really free photos to use in presentations that I keep going back to is Morguefile at www.morguefile.com

Steve:

You are so right and I apologize for the oversight!

Here are even more free photo sites: http://urltea.com/1j5t

I think Steve Jobs ushered in the presence of simple slides created with a single focal point. Even in corporations, when the sales or business development staff tries to win a new account, they toss around the phrase, "I want to give an Apple presentation."

It's a far stretch from the few PowerPoint templates I've seen lately; textboxes optimized for content along side ambiguous photos showing water droplets and faceless handshakes.

Are PowerPoint practitioners finally becoming inspired?

Alex: Thanks for commenting.

The Jobs approach reminds me of a child's story book. Simple and pretty.

But if you read above the 8th grade level, the Apple approach to presentation can be pretty...patronizing, as well.
